Actors' Strike Ends: Deal Reached β

The actors' strike in Hollywood is finally over after 118 days, as SAG-AFTRA and the studios have reached a tentative deal for a new three-year contract.
The strike officially ends on November 9, 2023.
This strike marked the first time in over 60 years that both the Writers Guild and SAG-AFTRA went on strike together.
While we don't have all the details of the deal just yet, they'll be revealed when the agreement goes to the board for approval.
This strike had a significant economic impact on Southern California, costing over $6.5 billion and leading to 45,000 job losses.
With this agreement, Hollywood can get back to work, pending member ratification. It's a big relief after many months of labor unrest.

AMC's Concert Film and Sports Dreams ποΈ

AMC Entertainment is riding high on the success of "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour," which has raked in more than $232 million globally.
The CEO, Adam Aron, is pretty excited about it and hinted that they're going all-in on concert films.
He mentioned that since they announced the release of "The Eras Tour," they've been getting a ton of calls from artists eager to collaborate with AMC.
But that's not all β Aron is dreaming big. He wants to bring sports events to the big screen, saying that watching a football game on a 55-foot theater screen would be quite something.
In their recent earnings call, AMC reported a profit of $12.3 million in the last quarter, a major improvement from the $227 million loss they had the previous year.

Disney+ Subscribers and Mixed Q4 Results π

Disney+ had a mixed quarter. They gained 4.1 million global subscribers, but they lost 2.8 million Disney+ Hotstar users.
The core Disney+ service added 6.9 million subscribers, and even though the streaming segment reported a loss of $387 million, it's getting better compared to previous quarters.
Disney's revenue for Q4 2023 was $21.2 billion, exceeding market expectations. They have a good cash flow going on, and with cost-cutting in progress, they hope to get their cash flow close to pre-pandemic levels.
Disney+ now has 150.2 million streaming subscriptions, with 112.6 million being core Disney+ subscribers. Hulu has 48.5 million subscribers, and ESPN+ has 26 million.
