Hollywood's Unique Auctions 💲

Guess what? Hollywood A-listers are joining forces to support the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes by auctioning off some pretty awesome experiences on eBay. These auctions are all about raising money for Free the Work, a group focused on diversity and inclusion in entertainment.

What's up for grabs? Think private dinners with David Cross and Bob Odenkirk, signed aprons from "The Bear," crossword-solving sessions with Natasha Lyonne, and virtual hangouts with the "New Girl" cast. Plus, Adam Scott will walk your dog, and "Bob's Burgers" actors will sing you a personalized song.

Lena Dunham will paint a mural in your home, and Spike Jonze will dish out storytelling advice. There are signed scripts, mentorship opportunities, and more. These experiences are not only incredible but also support a fantastic cause. Hurry, though, because these auctions won't last forever!

A24 Snags 'Sing Sing' at TIFF 👨🏿

A24 has snagged the U.S. rights to "Sing Sing," a drama with Colman Domingo that recently premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. Directed by Greg Kwedar, this film dives into the real-life Rehabilitation Through the Arts (RTA) program at Sing Sing prison. Inmates there get the chance to create and perform in stage plays. The storyline focuses on the friendship between RTA alumni John “Divine G” Whitfield (Domingo's character) and Clarence “Divine Eye” Maclin, who plays himself, as they team up to put on an original play. And here's the cool part: most of the cast are formerly incarcerated performers who actually went through the RTA program.

The film was funded and produced by Black Bear, Marfa Peach Company, and Edith Productions, and it's gotten kudos for its unhurried storytelling. CAA Media Finance was the matchmaker in the deal, working on behalf of the filmmakers, while Black Bear is the one handling international sales. And here's the scoop: all this action went down during the Toronto Film Festival, where Netflix also made headlines by nabbing the rights to Anna Kendrick's directorial debut, "Woman of the Hour," in a big eight-figure deal.

Apple Suspends Deals 🍎

Apple has suspended several overall and first-look deals with non-writing producers, including those with Natalie Portman's MountainA and Adam McKay's Hyperobject Industries, due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike, which has now lasted over four and a half months.

The suspension impacts producers who are not currently working due to the strike. Other major entertainment companies, such as Disney, NBCUniversal, Warner Bros. TV, and CBS Studios, have also suspended deals in recent weeks due to the strike.

However, some high-profile deals with non-writing producers who are actively working on projects, like Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman's Playtone, are still ongoing.

The strike continues as negotiations between the WGA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) are set to resume this week.
