Chris Rock Directs Martin Luther King Jr. Biopic π£οΈ

Universal Pictures is gearing up to make a significant biopic about the life of Martin Luther King Jr., and they've got some big names on board.
They've got the rights to adapt Jonathan Eig's book "King: A Life," and in the director's chair, we might see none other than Chris Rock, who's also set to produce. Plus, the legendary Steven Spielberg will be the executive producer.
Eig's book has been making waves for its deep dive into Dr. King's life. It also includes previously classified FBI info and doesn't shy away from showing his personal struggles and the government's constant surveillance.
Chris Rock is also busy acting in "Rustin," a film about Bayard Rustin, the man behind the 1963 March on Washington where Dr. King delivered his iconic "I have a dream" speech. Rock plays a key role in that one too.
This project is a big deal for Universal and a notable step in Chris Rock's directing career. It's sure to offer a fresh perspective on the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.

George Miller Eyes Cannes with "Furiosa" ποΈ

George Miller is looking to make a splash at the Cannes Film Festival in 2024 with his "Mad Max: Fury Road" prequel, "Furiosa."
The film stars Anya Taylor-Joy as a younger Imperator Furiosa, a character originally played by Charlize Theron, and it also features Chris Hemsworth as the antagonist.
Back in 2015, "Mad Max: Fury Road" made its debut at Cannes, and it was a massive success. It eventually raked in $374 million worldwide and received an impressive 10 Oscar nominations, taking home six of them.
There's some buzz about "Furiosa" potentially premiering at Cannes again, but Warner Bros. hasn't officially confirmed it yet. People often said that if "Fury Road" had competed, it might have even grabbed the Palme d'Or.

A24 Adapts Paris Hilton's Memoir π

A24 acquired the rights to Paris Hilton's autobiography, "Paris: The Memoir," in a pretty sweet deal for a TV series adaptation. This project is going to dig into Hilton's personal journey, tackling some heavy topics like ADHD, anxiety, and the challenges she's faced.
Paris Hilton's production company, 11:11 Media, is teaming up with Elle and Dakota Fanning's Lewellen Pictures and David Bernad's Middle Child Pictures to bring this to life.
Hilton reflects on her past, explores her experiences in the digital age and the whole influencer explosion. She's aiming to show her growth, how she reclaimed her power, built a thriving business, got hitched, and started a family.
No word on casting or writers just yet, but A24 has a knack for turning real-life stories into screen gold. They're currently working on Sofia Coppola's "Priscilla," and "The Iron Claw," a WWE drama, featuring Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White.
A24's TV lineup is pretty diverse, including "The Curse," created by Benny Safdie and Nathan Fielder.
