Audio-Only “Imaginary” Trailer Wows Audiences 🎧

Lionsgate and Blumhouse did something unusual to promote their horror film "Imaginary."

They created a movie trailer that's best experienced with your eyes closed. Shown only in theaters before "Five Nights at Freddy’s," the trailer is all about audio.

This unique approach came about because they had very little time to create a trailer. The idea was to let the audience's imagination run wild. It worked – Google searches for "Imaginary movie" shot up during the opening weekend.

"Imaginary" seems to explore the idea of childhood imaginary friends with a spooky twist involving the spirit world.

A more traditional trailer is in the works and will be released online soon. But this initial audio teaser is a treat for moviegoers in theaters.

“Barbie” Meets “Oppenheimer” in “Barbenheimer” 🔬

Charles Band is cooking up an offbeat, low-budget movie called "Barbenheimer" that fuses “Barbie” with Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer."

The film's tagline, "D-Cup, A-Bomb," sets the tone.

It follows Dr. Bambi J Barbenheimer, a genius doll from Dolltopia, who, appalled by the mistreatment of dolls by human kids, decides to build a massive nuclear bomb to take them out.

Band sees the potential for dark humor in this bizarre combo. In a film landscape dominated by dark and gloomy narratives, he believes "Barbenheimer" can bring some much-needed humor to 2024.

The movie has been in the works since August, but filming hasn't started yet, and its rights are for sale at the American Film Market.

Garcia's Prince Memoir Inspires Biopic 📚

Crazy Legs Features is adapting Mayte Garcia's memoir about her relationship with Prince into a biopic and is currently searching for a writer.

Mayte Garcia, Prince's first wife, provides personal insights into the famously private artist in her book, and the film aims to bring their unique love story to the screen.

Prince, a highly acclaimed musician with numerous awards, sold over 100 million records worldwide and released nearly 40 studio albums before his untimely death in 2016.

Crazy Legs Productions, known for reality shows like "1000-lb Sisters," is expanding into narrative projects, and Mayte Garcia is excited to share her intimate perspective on the man she loved and their life together.

Netflix Shakes Up Leadership 🔄

Netflix has let go of a few of its executives in the drama and overall deals departments.

Pete Corona, who served as the Director of Drama Series for over five years, is also among those affected. He played a role in bringing series like "FUBAR," "Resident Evil," and "Haunting of Bly Manor" to the platform.

Laura Delahaye, who was the Director of Overall Deals, is leaving too. She was behind the success of "The Queen's Gambit" and Mike Flanagan's series like "The Haunting of Hill House."

They also had layoffs last year and earlier this year, and they've been dealing with an actors' strike that's affecting their 2024 plans, especially for shows like "Stranger Things."

Despite the challenges, Netflix surprised everyone by beating Wall Street expectations in its last financial quarter, gaining nearly 9 million new subscribers and planning to increase its prices in the near future.
