Post-Strike Revival 🥵

After a whopping six-month strike, TV networks are on a mission to salvage what's left of the season post-SAG-AFTRA strike. Here's the bite-sized scoop:
Restarting Productions: Crews are in full swing, rebuilding sets, rounding up the gang, and tweaking schedules like it's a well-choreographed dance.
Timeline for New Episodes: Late February or March is the target. Three months of TV magic, with a holiday break thrown in for good measure.
Shortened Seasons: Brace yourself for shorter seasons – we're talking 10 to 13 episodes. Looks like the era of super-long TV seasons might be taking a little break.
Impact on Awards Season: The end of the strikes means actors are back in the spotlight, and the awards season is about to get a whole lot more competitive.
Deal Implications for AI: Hold up, they've got rules for artificial intelligence now. If those fake characters start looking too real, studios need a nod from real-life actors. And there are some ground rules for how AI can play in this sandbox.
Streaming Residuals Post-Strike: Get this – SAG-AFTRA snagged a cool $40 million streaming bonus, taking a page from the Writers Guild playbook. It's like a bonus party for actors on streaming shows, and everyone's invited.

Magnolia Pictures' “Food, Inc. 2.” 🐷
Magnolia Pictures, the brains behind the Oscar-nominated "Food, Inc.," is rolling out the sequel, "Food, Inc. 2."
They've nabbed U.S. rights, with Dogwoof handling the global stage. Premiering next spring, this documentary digs into the corporate grip on the U.S. food scene.
Directed by Robert Kenner and Melissa Robledo, featuring the dynamic duo Michael Pollan and Eric Schlosser, it explores everything from corporate control to solutions by farmers and Senators like Cory Booker.
What's cool is that the COVID chaos in meatpacking plants sparked this sequel.
November 10th Birthdays 🎂
Sony's Journey: Hits, Hiccups, Strategy ♟️

Sony Pictures Entertainment just banked a 1% profit boost, hitting $204 million in the quarter ending September 30.
They owe it to a 13.4% jump in sales, making a cool $2.767 billion, thanks to more series deliveries. Movies like "Insidious: The Red Door" and "The Equalizer 3" were the stars of the show, bringing in the bucks.
Earnings from TV and digital streaming were a bit lower compared to last year. Sony Corp tweaked their full-year 2023 forecast slightly down to $761.6 million, citing Hollywood strikes and delivery hiccups.
To tackle these challenges, Sony's got a game plan – cost control superhero mode. And for Q3, get ready for hits like "Journey to Bethlehem" and "Thanksgiving."
Sales might be up, but Sony's overall operating income took a 29% dip to $1.74 billion, mostly due to some drama in Imaging and Financial Services.
November 10th Releases 🎞️
Warner Cancels “Coyote vs. Acme” 🚫
Warner Bros Discovery seems to have pulled the plug on the completed film "Coyote vs. Acme," a mix of live-action and animation, opting for a $30 million write-down.
This decision, the third under David Zaslav's leadership, follows the cancellation of "Batgirl" and the animated feature "Scoob Holiday Haunt."
Despite positive test scores, Warner Bros deems it not worth the cost to release theatrically or sell to other buyers.
The move aligns with Warner Bros' new focus on theatrical releases.
"Coyote vs. Acme" was initially slated for a July 21, 2023, release but was replaced by the successful "Barbie."
