Upcoming HBO Series Updates πŸ“Ί

HBO's Casey Bloys revealed some exciting updates about their shows.

"House of the Dragon" is returning in early summer 2024 with an eight-episode second season, and it's in post-production with a trailer under wraps.

However, "Euphoria" season three, "The White Lotus" season three, and the "It" prequel series are now postponed until 2025.

"The Last of Us" season two starts filming in spring 2024, but it might also premiere in 2025 due to a potential actors' strike.

Another project in the works is the Thrones prequel, "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight," based on George R.R. Martin's Dunk and Egg novellas. It's expected to shoot in the spring, although casting hasn't been confirmed yet.

Warner Bros Acquires Stanford Freshman's Story πŸ“š

Warner Bros and producer Amy Pascal have won the rights to "How to Rule the World," a book written by Theo Baker.

This book tells the story of an 18-year-old freshman at Stanford who wrote articles for the university's newspaper, questioning the research practices of the university's president, who was even a contender for a Nobel Prize.

In response, the president used legal and PR firms to discredit the young journalist. However, Baker's investigative work earned him the prestigious Polk Award, making him the youngest recipient ever.

Eventually, due to the public backlash, the Stanford president resigned from his position.

Baker uncovered issues in the president's research, including photo manipulation, which had gone unnoticed for years.

The book is set to be published by Penguin Press/Penguin Random House. Sony, Amazon, and A24 also showed interest in the book, with CAA brokering the deal.

AMC Networks: Q3 Ad Dip, Streaming Surge πŸš€

AMC Networks saw an 18% drop in U.S. ad revenue, hitting $147 million in Q3, due to lower TV ratings and a tough ad market.

On the flip side, they gained 100,000 streaming subscribers, reaching 11.1 million by September, after some previous declines.

They've also wrapped up a cost-cutting plan, trimming office space and incurring an $11.6 million charge.

The CEO, Kristin Dolan, remains optimistic, emphasizing their focus on quality programming and new advertising efforts.

Their target is to reach 20 to 25 million subscribers for their niche streaming services by 2025, despite industry challenges.
