Hollywood Standoff: Actors vs. Studios πŸ’°

Negotiations between SAG-AFTRA and the big studios and streaming platforms have hit a roadblock and, in fact, they've come to a complete stop after just a couple of weeks.

The main issue causing all this trouble is that SAG-AFTRA wants a piece of the pie from successful streaming shows. They're looking for a cut of the money these shows make, roughly around 2% of the profits.

But the studios say that's way too much, calling it an "untenable economic burden." In plain English, they're saying it's too expensive for them.

The studios had offered a bunch of things during the talks, like more money for actors, better benefits, and other improvements. They even suggested something called "success-based residuals," which would pay actors more if a show did really well.

SAG-AFTRA said no to all of these offers, even though the other big industry unions, like the Directors Guild and Writers Guild, said yes to similar deals.

Adobe's AI Tools: Boosting Creativity πŸ–±οΈ

Adobe, the company known for software like Photoshop and Premiere Pro, just unveiled some fancy new AI-driven tools at its big conference called Max.

The boss at Adobe promised to keep things fair and transparent with this AI stuff. He called AI a "creative co-pilot," which means it's here to help, not take over from us humans.

What's really cool is that these new AI tools are meant to make creative work faster and easier, especially for artists and video editors who use Adobe software.

One important thing they're focusing on is making sure AI doesn't accidentally pick up any weird biases or harmful stuff. They're keeping an eye on it to make sure it's fair and doesn't mess with your creative process.

The film and creative industry loves Adobe because their software is like a secret weapon for making awesome stuff. Adobe tools are used by filmmakers, designers, and artists worldwide to create everything from movies to stunning artwork.

So, what Adobe is doing with AI is kind of a big deal because it's going to change how creatives work and make things even better. It might feel a little strange at first, but they're saying, "Don't worry, it won't replace you. It's just here to help."

'Community': Chase and McHale 😬

Joel McHale, a star of the TV show "Community," responded to Chevy Chase's recent criticism of the series.

Chevy Chase said on a podcast that the show wasn't "funny enough" for him. In response, McHale said he stopped caring about Chase's comments back in 2009.

Chase, who played Pierce Hawthorne for the show's first four seasons, left amid controversy, including reportedly using a racial slur on set. McHale pointed out that if Chase was unhappy, he could have left.

This isn't the first time McHale and Chase had issues. In his 2016 memoir, McHale detailed their tense interactions, including alleged racist language and jokes from Chase.

When asked if Chase would be part of the upcoming "Community" movie, McHale humorously suggested it's unlikely since Chase's character was written out when he left.
