Hollywood's IP Frenzy ๐ฐ

Hollywood is going absolutely wild for intellectual property (IP) like podcasts, articles, and books. This IP craze kicked off during some labor strikes and has only gained momentum as more players jumped into the game.
Independent studios with deep pockets, like A24 and Margot Robbie's LuckyChap, are right in the mix, duking it out in bidding wars for these rights.
The focus has shifted from mostly adapting material into movies to going the TV series route.
The price tags for IP rights have shot up significantly, with six-figure deals becoming the norm. Traditional studios, like Sony and Warner Bros., are struggling to keep up.
Even when the industry was dealing with strikes, people were determined to get their hands on IP, even if it meant just having directors and producers attached to projects. There's renewed interest in young adult content and darker, headline-inspired material.
Some folks think this IP craze is just a passing trend caused by industry boredom, while others see it as a necessary response to an industry that's becoming more risk-averse and reliant on existing material.

Gen Z Prefers Less Sex in Entertainment ๐

A recent study from UCLA shows that young folks aged 10 to 24 are actually not too keen on seeing steamy scenes on screen.
In fact, a majority (about 51%) of those surveyed said they'd rather watch content about friendships and platonic relationships.
Almost half (47.5%) felt that sex isn't really needed in most TV shows and movies, and 44% found romance to be a bit overused.
What's interesting is that 56% of these Gen Zers prefer original stories over remakes and adaptations. They're not big fans of racial stereotypes in shows, especially when people of color are portrayed negatively.
They see social media, especially TikTok, as authentic media, even though it's known for spreading misinformation.
